With any luck the daily grind of nausea has eased a little, but you still have to pick and choose your food carefully.

This is your last month at work and it is starting to get harder.

You are tired and it’s vital that you keep up your water intake. Any tightening of your uterus should be met with a glass of water and a lie down. If it persists, contact your doctor.

By now your belly button has almost disappeared and your tummy looks like a metropolitan road map.

Stretch marks are inevitable and may take a long time to fade. You make a note to cross the hot pink string bikini off your Christmas list for this year.

Back to the doctor for your monthly check-up. Your blood pressure is a little high, but within the limits.

Your next appointment is for a glucose tolerance test to screen for diabetes. If you’re not into strong lime cordial, then this will be a tough one.

Personally I can do chocolate cake for breakfast, so a mega dose of sugar at 9am wasn’t a problem. You’ll be asked to drink the liquid within a time limit and then return one hour later for a blood test.

People at work are already asking if you’ve decided on names.

It’s starting to become painful repeating the same answer over and over again. “No we haven’t discussed it yet.”

An Italian colleague and friend solves the problem by naming them Mario and Guiseppe. From here on in, your babies have officially got names… and a borrowed Italian heritage.

You make a mental note to choose some real names before these ones grow on you, and your procrastination leads you to choose them by default as the babies are wheeled bellowing from the birthing suite.

You are walking down the street, okay waddling, when a painter working nearby says, “Congratulations, you must be due soon”.

You sigh, roll your eyes and say, “Another three months”. He looks at you strangely so you quickly add, “It’s twins”.

He smiles sympathetically, nods and walks away. You think to yourself, “Am I really that enormous?”

You go home and check in the mirror sideways. “Yep. I really am that enormous.”

You make a note to cross the hot pink string bikini off your Christmas list for next year as well.
